SIER Petrol Station Exploded, One Dead and 4 Others Injured

SURABAYA — A petrol station (SPBU) in Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER), Waru sub-district Sidoarjo, exploded and burned on Thursday (8/3/2018) morning. Four people were injured and one died in the location.

Initial suspicion, a fire was triggered by a spark from a truck carrying LPG which was refueling at the station. Until Thursday afternoon, the ranks of Sidoarjo Resort Police continued to investigate the burning of the petrol station.

The victim died was the truck conductor carrying LPG. "Four of the injured have been rushed to the hospital," said the Sidoarjo police chief, Kombes Pol Hima Bayu Aji in the location.

Besides inflicted victim injuries and death, the explosion at the petrol station also caused the car carrying water and LPG burned. "It had happened 5 times of explosion," said Arifin, an eyewitness.

To extinguish the fire, at least 11 units of fire trucks are deployed. Seven units of fire trucks from Surabaya government while four units from Sidoarjo. (-comp)
